Recently accepted paper in European Urology (Combination of BAY 60-4552 and vardenafil exerts proerectile facilitator effects in rats with cavernous nerve injury: A proof of concept study for the treatment of PDE5 inhibitor failure. Oudot A., Behr-Roussel D., Poirier S., Sandner P., Bernabé J., Alexandre L., Giuliano F. (Eur. Urol. Available online July 30th 2011, in press) is published as a Platinium Priority and highlighted by an editorial written by an expert in this field, Pr V. Mirone.
Pr V. Mirone stated in this editorial that “the animal model used in this study perfectly represents the type of lesion that usually occurs during a nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy procedure” and that the results “completely concur with the partial clinical response to PDE5 inhibitors routinely observed in patients who underwent a nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy”. The novelty of this study is also emphasized: “The results of the study by Oudot et al. no doubt point us in the right direction to manage ED difficult patients more effectively” (Eur. Urol.
