Lipid profile

Objectives

Lipid profile monitoring is particularly important in the care of pathologies associated with dyslipidemia such as metabolic syndrome, diabetes or atherosclerosis. Lipid profile gives useful information about the nature and degree of the lipid disorder or the efficacy of a treatment targeting such disorders.

Summarized methodology

In rodents, lipid profile is determined in plasma following tail-vein blood withdrawal.
Lipid profile includes the determination of total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and can be performed after a determined fasting-period depending on client’s needs.

Endpoints

Monitoring of dyslipidemia
Efficacy of a treatment targeting lipid metabolism

NB: Pelvipharm will gladly study the feasibility of lipid profile monitoring in other experimental models to meet its client’s needs.
