Glycemia
Objectives
Blood glucose monitoring is particularly important in the care of pathologies associated with glucose metabolism disorders such as metabolic syndrome or diabetes mellitus. Glycemia gives useful information about the degree of the glucose metabolism disorder or the efficacy of a treatment targeting such pathologies.Summarized methodology
• In rodents, blood glucose determination is performed following tail-vein blood withdrawal and using a portable blood glucose meter (Accu chek active, Roche diagnostics).• Blood glucose determination can be performed in conscious or anaesthetized animals and after a determined fasting-period depending on client’s needs.
Endpoints
• Monitoring of diabetic pathology• Efficacy of a treatment targeting blood glucose metabolism
• Glycemia measurement can be completed with insulinemia determination
NB: Pelvipharm will gladly study the feasibility of glycemia monitoring in other experimental models to meet its client’s needs.
