Food / water intake
Objectives
The monitoring of food and / or water intake during a chronic study is required to adjust the daily dosing of any compound administration in diet or drinking water. Moreover, food/water intake monitoring could give useful information about health metabolic status of an animal during the evolution of a specific pathology like obesity / metabolic syndrome / diabetes.Summarized methodology
Food and / or water intake is recorded by the weighing of the food (specific feeders) and / or drinking bottle. It could be performed at different frequencies: from once during an entire study to several times-a-day (depending on client’s needs and treatment stability if administered in food and / or drinking water), and the same calibrated weighing device is dedicated to the entire study.Endpoints
- Pharmacological treatment dosing adjustment
- Monitoring of health status
